Students from Burke High School in Charleston, South Carolina, and Congolese high school students who were part of the English Access Microscholarship Program had a valuable chance to come together and discuss the challenges faced by their communities. As young black individuals, they shared their perspectives on how they tackle these issues and find solutions. The dialogue also delved into the shared history between the United States and Congo, starting from the era of slavery and extending to the present-day. This exchange fostered a deeper understanding and appreciation for the cultural ties and experiences that connect these two nations.

This activity was coordinated on the one hand by Mrs. Charlotte Young Fadare, the Cultural Affairs Officer of the United States Embassy in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and on the other hand by Mr. Eric Impion Ibani, President of the Eric Impion Foundation.

The United States Embassy and Eric Impion Foundation collaborated to host a conference commemorating Black History Month. Held at the American Cultural Center in Kinshasa, the event spanned from February 23 to 24, 2022. This unique partnership created an opportunity for engaging conversations and interactive sessions during the period of celebration of Black History in the United States of America.
